BOLEY BREAKS GROUND ON NEW MUSEUM SHOWROOM

BOLEY, OK (October 21, 2004) - - Officials from Boley are in high spirits following the official groundbreaking for the new Boley Museum Showroom. The groundbreaking comes after months of hard work by the Mayor, Trustees, and the Boley Economic Development and Redevelopment Agency (BEDRA).

The event was attended by many members of the community, as well as local officials including Mayor M. Joan Matthews; former Mayor Sam Wilcox; Leonice Banks, Trustee; Cathy Martin, Commissioner of Building and Property for Boley; Mr. Larnell Mobley, Maintenance Supervisor; and Maurice Lee Jr., representing BEDRA. Beverly Crisp of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, who has worked with Boley on the revitalization projects, was also in attendance.

Donetta Henry, Trustee, served as the grant administrator, obtaining $200,000 in CDBG grant funds for community revitalization. Boley, with assistance from BEDRA added $51,000 in funds. The funding was a six project grant for community revitalization projects in Boley. The museum is utilizing the last of those funds, which were acquired in 2003.

Designed by kerr 3 design group, inc. headquartered in Edmond, Oklahoma, the new showroom will include two rooms for a total of 800 square feet. Located behind the current Boley Museum building, the exterior of the new showroom will be brick with a standing seam metal roof.

The Boley Museum Showroom is planned as phase one of a two phase project. Officials say design for phase two will commence upon the attainment of funding. Phase Two will provide for a larger main museum building. The Boley Museum’s current building was built in 1908.
